Christmas Party

Reception had a wonderful day making reindeer hats and decorating biscuits.

Thank you for the food you bought in to help us to celebrate !!

Its been a great first term, the children have been wonderful and I wish them the very best with Miss Lisa and Miss Marie Claire next term.

Busy Bees this week in Reception

Reception have been super busy this week learning new sounds as well as making the most of the continuous provision activities available. Here we are practicing being future builders, engineers and computer programmers!

Please sign reading record books and send the children’s reading pack into school on a daily basis.

Maths:

This week will be reinforcing childrenʼs knowledge of spoken numbers and matching written numerals up to 10. They will be ordering numbers, counting on and back from a given number and writing numerals 1 to 10.

Dark and Light

Maths:

This week we will be covering Geometry and measurement the children will learn about 2D shapes, beginning to identify circles, triangles and rectangles including squares. They will begin to use appropriate language to describe simple 2D shapes. Children will also revise the days of the week and begin to learn the months of the year and the seasons, including key months when festivals and their birthdays occur.

Our Topic will be Light and Dark

We will be launching the Read Write Inc scheme in the Reception class.

The first four sounds/letters we will be learning are

m/a/s/d

We will also be learning how to write these letters with the correct formation.

This week the children will also start bringing home a reading book without words, please see the letter in the reading pack for full details.

This week in maths we will be covering Number and Place Value which will include counting to 100, counting objects to 10/20, matching spoken and written numbers as well as starting to write numbers.
